Terms and Conditions
Last updated: August 11, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Square Yard, LLC, a Wisconsin limited liability company ("Square Yard," "we," "us"). They govern your use of the squareyard.us website and, when it becomes available to you, the SquareYard application (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these terms.
1. What the Service is
SquareYard is a mapping platform for the civil construction trades: public construction-related data layers, private pins and notes, shared team maps, and supplier listings. The website currently offers information about the product and an early-access waitlist. The application is in active development and is offered first as a beta.
2. Early access and beta software
Beta software is a work in progress. Features may change, break, or be removed, and access may be interrupted or withdrawn while we build. Don't rely on the beta as your only copy of anything important.
3. Your account and your content
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials to yourself. Content you create in SquareYard — pins, notes, photos, markup — belongs to you. You give us the limited license we need to store it, display it back to you, and share it with teammates you choose to share it with. We don't sell your content or use it to advertise to anyone.
4. What belongs to us
The Service itself is ours: the software, the design, the way we compile and present the data layers, and the SquareYard and Square Yard names and logos. These terms don't transfer any of that to you. While these terms are in effect you have a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service — nothing more.
Public data shown in the Service (parcels, wetlands, road projects, and the like) remains the property of the agencies that publish it. Our compilation, styling, and presentation of that data are ours. Don't copy, reverse-engineer, or resell the software or its data layers.
5. Acceptable use
- Don't use the Service to break the law or to infringe anyone's rights.
- Don't attempt to probe, overload, or disrupt the Service or access other people's data.
- Don't scrape, resell, or redistribute the Service's data layers as a product of your own.
6. Content complaints
If something in SquareYard infringes your copyright or otherwise doesn't belong there, email info@squareyard.us with enough detail for us to find it: what the content is, where it appears, and why it's a problem. We'll look into it and remove anything that violates these terms or the law.
If we removed something of yours and you think we got it wrong, reply and tell us — we'll take a second look. Accounts that repeatedly infringe get suspended.
7. Maps and data are informational
SquareYard displays data from public sources (parcels, owners, wetlands, road restrictions, and similar) as published by the agencies that maintain them. We work to present it faithfully, but we don't control it and can't guarantee it is current, complete, or error-free. The Service is an informational tool — it is not legal, engineering, or surveying advice, and it does not replace permits, locate calls (call 811 before you dig), posted signage, or your own judgment in the field.
8. Listings
Supplier listings are posted by the suppliers themselves. "Verified" means we've taken steps to confirm the business behind a listing is real — it is not a guarantee of material quality, availability, or price. Deals you strike with a supplier are between you and them.
9. Fees
SquareYard is free during the beta. If we introduce paid plans, we'll show you the price, the billing period, and how renewal works before you pay for anything, and moving to a paid plan is always your choice. Nothing about using the beta obligates you to buy anything later.
10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Square Yard's total liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim arose, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
11. Ending things
You can stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access that violates these terms.
12. Changes
We may update these terms as the product grows. If a change is significant, we'll post it here with a new "last updated" date, and for material changes affecting active users we'll make reasonable efforts to notify you in the app or by email.
13. General
- Who can agree. You need to be at least 18 and able to enter into a contract. If you're using SquareYard on behalf of a company, you're confirming you have authority to accept these terms for it.
- Entire agreement. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the complete agreement between you and Square Yard about the Service, and they replace anything discussed beforehand.
- Severability. If a court finds any provision unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we don't enforce something right away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You can't transfer these terms to anyone else without our written consent. We may assign them to an affiliate or to a successor if the business is sold, and we'll tell you if that happens.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin.
